Ten minutes, straight after your run, while everything is still warm. Katie opens by naming the exact moment this is for: “if you’ve just been out running, I’m sure you want to jump in the shower or eat something — so first, let’s do this.”

That’s the whole design. Short enough that it doesn’t compete with the shower.

What you’ll do

Downward Dog to start, paddling the feet and stretching through the calves. Then the same sequence on each side: Three-Legged Dog, into Lizard with the front foot on a forty-five-degree angle, then heel-toeing across into Pigeon with the front foot flexed to protect the knee. From Pigeon you sit over onto the hip and swing the back leg through for Half-Shoelace, which brings the hamstring and calf into it alongside the hip. Windshield Wipers to finish and unwind.

Two cues worth keeping from the class: keep the front foot flexed in Pigeon, and imagine magnets pulling your feet toward each other so the hips stay square rather than collapsing to one side.

Where this sits

This is a yang cool-down — shapes held for a handful of breaths while your muscles are still warm and elastic. It’s not Yin, and it isn’t trying to be.

If you’d rather have the same places worked with longer, stiller holds, that’s what my free 15-Minute Post-Run Reset does: four shapes, a couple of minutes each, with a hold timer and written cues so you can practise screen-free once you know them. Yours to keep.

Common questions

How long is this Yin Yoga class?

It runs about 10 min. Yin is slow and floor-based, so you can settle in — and pause any time you need to.

Do I need any props for this class?

No props needed — just a mat and a warm, quiet space. A cushion or blanket nearby is always welcome for extra comfort.

Is this class suitable for beginners?

Yes. It's an all-levels class — every pose has a gentler option, so work at about 80% of your edge and ease off whenever you need to.

A gentle reminder: Yin asks you to respect your limits, not override them. Come out of any pose that feels like pain rather than sensation, ease off if your hands tingle or a knee complains, and take your time coming out of the long holds — the body feels tender for a moment, and that passes. This practice is about taking good care of your body, never pushing it.
