What this Yin class is

A gentle 30-minute bedtime Yin class that focuses on releasing tension from the neck and shoulders — the places we so often hold the stress of the day. We begin seated with calming box breathing, ease into some soft neck stretches, then settle into child’s pose, thread the needle, eagle arms and cow face arms, before unwinding the spine with cat-cow and a simple seated twist. It’s slow, quiet and beginner-friendly — the perfect way to let go and drift toward sleep.

Who this class is for

Anyone carrying tightness in their neck and shoulders who wants to unwind before bed, whether you’re brand new to Yin or well practiced. It’s especially lovely at the end of a long day at a desk, and it’s calm and simple enough to follow even when you’re tired. New to this? Just move at your own pace and take the gentler option whenever you need it.

What you need

Just your mat and a warm, quiet space where you can be still. This is a no-props class — though if your forehead doesn’t reach the floor in child’s pose, you can stack your fists to rest it on. Every pose has a gentler option and a deeper one, so make each shape your own and press pause whenever you need to.

Common questions

Do I need any props for this bedtime class?

None at all — just your mat and somewhere comfortable to be. If your forehead doesn't reach the floor in child's pose, you can stack your fists to rest it on, but that's the only little tweak, and everything else is done with your own body.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Yes — this one is designed to be beginner-friendly. The poses are simple, seated and supported, and Katie guides you through gentler and deeper options the whole way, so you can settle in at whatever feels right for your neck and shoulders tonight.

Can I do this right before bed?

That's exactly what it's made for. We open with calming box breathing and keep everything slow and quiet, so it's a lovely way to release the tension of the day and prepare your body and mind for a restful night's sleep.

A gentle reminder: Yin asks you to respect your limits, not override them. Come out of any pose that feels like pain rather than sensation, ease off if your hands tingle or a knee complains, and take your time coming out of the long holds — the body feels tender for a moment, and that passes. This practice is about taking good care of your body, never pushing it.
