What this Yin class is

A gentle 25 minutes of Yin to close the day and carry you toward sleep. We begin sitting quietly with a few minutes of box breathing to calm the mind and shift into nighttime mode, then move through slow, soothing shapes — Sleeping Swan, a shoelace shoulder and neck release, a soft side-body stretch and some easy windshield wipers — each held long enough to let the tension of the day drain away. No props, no rush. Come as you are — every pose has a gentler option and a deeper one, and you choose what feels right tonight.

Who this class is for

Anyone who wants to switch off and settle before bed — whether Yin is brand new to you or already part of your evenings. If your mind is busy, your shoulders are up around your ears, or you’re feeling wound up and restless, this class meets you where you are. New to Yin? Read the pose notes below first, then follow along at your own pace.

What you need

Just your mat, and somewhere warm, dim and quiet where you can be still. No props required — though a cushion or block tucked under the hip in Swan is a lovely bit of extra support if you’d like it. Dim the lights, do this right before bed, and press pause any time you need to.

Common questions

Do I need any props for this class?

No — this is a no-props practice, so all you need is your mat. If you'd like a little extra support, a cushion or block under the hip in Swan is lovely, but it's entirely optional.

How long do we hold each pose?

We open with about five minutes of seated breathing, then hold Sleeping Swan for around two minutes on each side, with about a minute in the shoelace shoulder opener. Come out sooner any time you need to.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Yes — it's an all-levels class. Shoelace has a gentler straight-leg option and a deeper folded version, and the Eagle arms can be swapped for simply holding opposite shoulders, so you choose what feels right tonight.

A gentle reminder: Yin asks you to respect your limits, not override them. Come out of any pose that feels like pain rather than sensation, ease off if your hands tingle or a knee complains, and take your time coming out of the long holds — the body feels tender for a moment, and that passes. This practice is about taking good care of your body, never pushing it.
