What this Yin class is

A gentle 30-minute bedtime Yin for the back — no props, just you and your mat. We stay low and slow the whole way through, moving from a Folded Butterfly into Sphinx and Crocodile, then Child’s Pose and a soft Cat-Cow, a Shoelace twist and side bend on each side, and finally knees to chest before we settle into Corpse Pose. Each shape is held a good while so gravity and your breath can do the work, helping to release a stiff or sore back as you unwind and quiet your mind. Come as you are — every pose has a lighter option and a deeper one.

Who this class is for

Anyone who wants to give their back a little TLC at the end of the day. It’s lovely if you sit a lot, feel tension gathering in your lower back, or you just want a calm, unhurried way to wind down before sleep. No experience needed — new to Yin? Read the pose notes below first, then follow the shapes at your own pace and let the long holds carry you.

What you need

Just your mat and a warm, quiet space where you can be still and comfortable. No props are needed — though a cushion or folded blanket nearby is always welcome if you’d like a little padding under your forehead, hips, or knees. Dim the lights, get cosy, and press pause whenever you need to.

Common questions

Do I need any props for this class?

No — this is a no-props practice, so all you need is your mat. If you'd like a little extra softness, a cushion or folded blanket nearby is always welcome under your forehead in Child's Pose or your knees, but nothing is required.

Is this a good practice before bed?

That's exactly what it's made for. Everything stays low to the mat and unhurried, and we finish lying down in stillness — so it's an easy way to let the day go, quiet a busy mind, and feel your body get heavy and calm before sleep.

Can I do this with a stiff or sore back?

Gently, yes. Every pose has a lighter option — slide your feet away in Butterfly, walk your elbows forward in Sphinx, widen your knees in Child's Pose — so you choose how much sensation you feel. Come to about 60–80%, never forcing, and ease out any time you need to.

A gentle reminder: Yin asks you to respect your limits, not override them. Come out of any pose that feels like pain rather than sensation, ease off if your hands tingle or a knee complains, and take your time coming out of the long holds — the body feels tender for a moment, and that passes. This practice is about taking good care of your body, never pushing it.
