Thirty focused minutes to open the hips and hamstrings and build a little more flexibility. We hold the poses a touch longer today — up to about five minutes each — starting with half shoelace on both sides to open hips and hamstrings together, then sinking into a long squat for the hips and groin, and finishing in a dangling forward fold to release the hamstrings and lower back. Slow, steady, and quietly effective. Come as you are — every pose has a gentler option and a deeper one.
Anyone wanting to feel looser through the hips and hamstrings, whether you’re brand new to Yin or well practiced. The longer holds ask for a little patience, so it’s lovely when you’ve got half an hour to slow right down. New to this? Follow the shapes at your own pace and take the gentler option whenever you need it.
Your mat, and a warm, quiet space to be still. A couple of yoga blocks or firm cushions are handy — to sit on in the half shoelace, or as a little seat under you in the squat — and a rolled blanket under your heels can help in the squat too. All of it is optional, and every pose has a gentler and a deeper version, so you can meet your body wherever it is today.

Nothing is essential, but a couple of yoga blocks or firm cushions are lovely to have nearby — to sit on in the half shoelace, or to rest under you in the squat. A rolled blanket under your heels can help in the squat too. If you don't have any of these, come just as you are.
Yes. Yin isn't about how far you go — find your edge at about 60–80%, let the shape do the work, and take the gentler option in every pose whenever you need it. The poses are held a little longer today (up to five minutes), but you can always come out sooner and build up over time.
We open both hips and hamstrings with half shoelace on each side, then move into a long squat to open the hips and groin, and finish in a dangling forward fold to release the hamstrings and lower back. It's a short, focused sequence with plenty of time to settle and breathe.
