What this Yin class is

A gentle half-hour of Yin to end the day lying down. We stay fully reclined the whole way through — a bolster and a block or two supporting you underneath — so you can release the tension you’ve gathered without ever having to hold yourself up. Slow, supported stretches, each held for a few minutes, to soften the body and settle you toward sleep. Come as you are — every pose has a gentler option and a deeper one, and you choose what feels right tonight.

Who this class is for

Anyone who wants to switch off at the end of the day, especially if you love a supported, cushioned practice. Whether you’re new to Yin or already have a steady practice, staying reclined makes this an easy, forgiving way to wind down. If you feel wound up, tired, or restless before bed, this class meets you where you are.

What you need

A yoga block or two, and a bolster if you have one — a firm cushion or a couple of folded blankets work just as well. Have them close by so you can slide them into place as we go. Then find somewhere warm and quiet where you can be still, dim the lights, and press pause any time you need to.

Common questions

What props do I need for this class?

A yoga block or two, and a bolster if you have one. A firm cushion or a couple of folded blankets work just as well — I'll show you exactly where to place everything as we go, so the shapes hold you rather than the other way round.

Is this reclined class suitable for beginners?

Yes. Because we stay fully reclined and let the props do the work, this is one of the gentlest ways to practice Yin. Come as you are — every pose has a gentler option and a deeper one, so you choose what feels right tonight.

When is the best time to do this practice?

Right before bed, in dim light and something warm. It's designed to wind you down, so it's lovely as the last thing you do before sleep — follow it with a Yoga Nidra or guided relaxation if you'd like to sink even deeper.

A gentle reminder: Yin asks you to respect your limits, not override them. Come out of any pose that feels like pain rather than sensation, ease off if your hands tingle or a knee complains, and take your time coming out of the long holds — the body feels tender for a moment, and that passes. This practice is about taking good care of your body, never pushing it.
