What this Yin class is

A full 70 minutes of silent Yin — a slow, full-body stretch with minimal cues to enjoy meditative bliss. This is Class 6 of the Yin Yoga Challenge. I say just enough to guide you into each shape and tell you how long we’ll stay, offer a prop or an alternative, then leave you to the quiet so you can sink in and let the pose do its work. Long, unhurried holds open the hips, release the back and shoulders, and unwind a twist through the spine. Come as you are — every pose has a gentler option and a deeper one.

Who this class is for

Anyone who loves a long, peaceful practice with very little talking — a chance to sit with yourself, notice your thoughts, and simply observe rather than engage. It’s a beautiful way to relieve stress and tension and settle a busy mind. New to Yin? Read the pose notes below first, then follow the shapes at your own pace.

What you need

Just your mat, and a warm, quiet space where you can be still for a while. No props required — though a cushion, bolster or blanket nearby is always welcome to soften the reclined shapes. Press pause whenever you need to.

Common questions

Is this a silent class?

Almost entirely. I give minimum cues to guide you into each shape and let you know how long we'll stay, offer a prop or a gentler option, then leave you in silence to settle. It's a lovely way to drop out of your head and fully into the pose.

Do I need any props?

No props are required — just your mat and a warm, quiet space. If you like, keep a cushion, bolster or blanket nearby to support the reclined shapes; I'll offer where they help, but everything works without them.

Is 70 minutes of Yin suitable for beginners?

Yes. Every pose has a gentler option and a deeper one, so you choose your own edge. If you're new, read the pose notes below first, then follow the shapes at your own pace and come out of anything sooner if you need to.

A gentle reminder: Yin asks you to respect your limits, not override them. Come out of any pose that feels like pain rather than sensation, ease off if your hands tingle or a knee complains, and take your time coming out of the long holds — the body feels tender for a moment, and that passes. This practice is about taking good care of your body, never pushing it.
