What this Yin class is

A grounding 45-minute Yin practice filmed in a peaceful park in Taipei, focused on releasing the hips and lower back. We take our inspiration from a banyan tree slowly rooting into the earth — settling in with child’s pose, then working both sides through dragon, sleeping swan and shoelace, easing into a yogi squat and a forward-hanging dangle, and finishing by stretching the legs in caterpillar with a soft seated twist. No props, nothing to reach for — just long, slow holds and a calm voice to guide you down into the ground.

Who this class is for

Anyone carrying tension in the hips or lower back and wanting to feel more settled and grounded. It suits complete beginners and seasoned practitioners alike — every pose offers a gentler option and a deeper one, so you can meet your body wherever it is today. Lovely after a long day of sitting, or any time you need to slow down.

What you need

Just your mat and a quiet space where you can be still for three-quarters of an hour. This is a no-props class, though a cushion under the hips or knees is nice if you’d like a little more support. Remember every pose has a gentler option and a deeper one — choose the version that serves you, and press pause whenever you need to.

Common questions

Do I need any props for this class?

No props at all — just your mat. Every shape has a gentler option and a deeper one, so if you'd like a little extra comfort a cushion under the hips or knees is nice, but it's entirely optional. Come as you are.

What does the class actually cover?

We settle in with child's pose, then work through the hips with dragon, sleeping swan and shoelace on both sides, before a grounding yogi squat and a forward-hanging dangle. We finish by stretching the legs in caterpillar with a gentle seated twist, then rest in corpse pose.

Is this suitable if I'm not very flexible or my hips feel tight?

Yes — this class is made for tight hips and lower backs. Yin isn't about how far you go; find your edge at about 60–80%, let the pose do the work, and take the gentler version whenever you need it. Nothing here should ever be forced.

A gentle reminder: Yin asks you to respect your limits, not override them. Come out of any pose that feels like pain rather than sensation, ease off if your hands tingle or a knee complains, and take your time coming out of the long holds — the body feels tender for a moment, and that passes. This practice is about taking good care of your body, never pushing it.
